A Plymouth-in-Boston weekend coming this march to a Sweetwater near you (feat. The Tranzmission indie music blog launch party)

Shaun Dever, performing 3/19 at Sweetwater Cafe, is also our main graphics and poster guy here at Brewster. So, without his computer while surfing the days away in Costa Rica, this is the poster he came up with.

This will be a great weekend. On March 19, Shaun Dever will rock the Sweetwater Cafe in his ‘back in the USA’ debut show after surfing his way through Costa Rica for some time (see the photo). Then the very next day, March 20, our good friend and international indie music writer Ryan Wood will be hosting the official Boston launch party of his new music blog, The Tranzmission, which will feature the incomparable JAKE HILL w/ another incredible mainstay of ours, Greg Loftus – it’s sure to be a bluesy, folksy night.

So you’re probably beginning to see that March at Sweetwater Cafe in Boston, presented by Brewster Productions, is going to be a pretty rad time. Make sure you check out the show schedule because we’ve got 7 SHOWS coming up featuring the likes of Sean P. Rogan (of Big D and the Kids Table), The Okay Win, Big Big Buildings, Nate Cristofori, Electric Mummy and more. It’s gonna be a great month as we get geared up for the big 3rd season of the School’s Out Summer Concert Series. (and yes, we know all these shows at sweetwater are unfortunately 21+, but you just wait a tiny bit longer and we’ll make it up to you and then some)

Later!

‘Good afternoon Reggie Lewis Center…check….check 1….check 2….’

A cell phone picture of Scott (right) working hard on the wireless mic setup. Coach Infa on the left.

Yesterday Scott, Steve Infascelli and I spent the better part of the afternoon at the Reggie Lewis Center doing the first of what will be a few test runs for our big Nike Indoor Nationals sound production gig. For those of you who don’t know, the Reggie is an indoor track/giant athletics field house at Roxbury Community College. We’ll be producing the sound for the big national high school indoor track meet there on March 12-14, which is sponsored by Nike. So yesterday we fiddled around with a bunch of wireless mic stuff, a ducking system, and the giant expanse that is the Reggie Lewis Center, and surpisingly, pretty much on the first try, everything sounded great even with the wacky acoustics.

So that’s the Nike Indoor Nationals update for now. We’ll take lots of pictures and tweet and blog about our experience and such when the meet comes around.

And remember, we’ve got TONS OF SHOWS coming up in March so don’t miss them.

Ben Carter preps for a record, rocks Sweetwater Feb. 6 w/ a new face and maybe an EHB…

Happy Friday everyone,

Tomorrow’s show (2/6/2010) at Sweetwater Cafe in Boston with Ben Carter, Darren Hawe, and Seth McFadyen is going to be a great one. We’ve even heard there might be an acoustic cameo from the Eagle Hill Band.

The folk-poppy stylings of Ben, Darren, and Seth are sure to get cozy downstairs of Sweetwater singing along tomorrow night, and you definitely want to be part of the show. It’s 21+ with a $5 cover, so if you can make it, do what Ernie Boch Jr. says and come on down! (awkward beckoning wave here)

In related news, Ben Carter will be recording and putting out an acoustic EP with a little help from Brewster Productions – we’re really excited about it, and you can bet he’ll be testing out some cool new stuff at the show. Ben and Darren rocked Club Passim in Cambridge the other night, and Ben was caught working on a song (see the photo) – so I’ll say it one more time: Don’t miss the show!

See you in Boston. Keep it real.

The new mixer fares well in Pembroke….on to Copperfield’s!!!

Emma Ate the Lion rocks the house at the Pembroke Town Green 10/11/09.

(This weekend we are producing our first full show at Copperfield’s (10/17 w/ The Release, EHB, Ben Carter and Shaun Dever) … please come support the cause! I digress, for now)

The other day Brewster Productions/The School’s Out Summer Concert Series purchased a brand new mixer. While everyone in the world might not be as excited as us, this does mean for even more awesome things to come….many of which are those sorta things that are meant to go unnoticed (like if we do our jobs right most people should not know we’re even there).

Well anyway, we got to put the new board into action hot out of the box at the Pembroke Town Green this past Sunday, and it was a damn good time.  Some great young acts put on some great shows (CJ & Nick, our good rainy friends The Hiding Spot – you may remember them as Second Nature, the guys who got rained out 600 times in a row at the Hedge House), and then the headliner (after some finagling…long story) came in a ROCKED the house. They are called Emma Ate the Lion, and you should keep your ears peeled for these guys – they’ve got a heavy, experimental crazy sound that had all the kids going nuts at the show. Think something like ‘Daisy’-era Brand New + Boston (“Foreplay/Long-Time”) + maybe a little Zeppelin + something else. I’ll just say this: The bass player/lead singer has a pedal board. Check them out.

Now on to this weekend. We have a familiar-face lineup at Copperfields on Saturday 10/17  (98 Brookline Ave, near Fenway Park, 21+, $5 cover): THE RELEASE, The Eagle Hill Band, Ben Carter, and Shaun Dever will rock the cool October night away. Please come support the bands and us – this is a big show for us and if we blow the managers away with a great crowd, we’ll definitely be able to come back and do more shows there and around Boston.

I’ll be back with more updates. Remember, we still have some cool things cookin’ with our alma mater, Plymouth South High School.  Stay chuned.

The Revolution comes to Boston…..again. Plus some more South Shore shenanigans.

‘Afternoon,

I’m only on my 3rd day of classes up at my new place-of-residence in the fair city of Boston, and we’re already working on a Caesar-esque mobilization to take over the Hub….or at least get our foot in the door. Well, it’s fair to say we’ve got our sneakers wedged right in there, and this October we’re going to see what we can do about kicking it open.

We’ve got 3 shows lined up so far, two of which are in Boston, and our expansion to one of the biggest centers of art, music and culture in the world starts this October. Grandiose statements aside, our first show is at the Sweetwater Cafe, in Boylston Place (an alleyway sort of thing off Boylston St. near the Common), and will feature the Eagle Hill Band and others to be announced. Show # 2 will feature our awesome musical pals, The Release, as well as The Eagle Hill Band, Ben Carter, and Shaun Dever at Copperfield’s Down Under Pub (Brookline Ave, right next to Fenway Park). Both shows are 21+ and have a $5 cover.

Also, we’re returning to Pembroke, the place of many of the first bands we ever worked with, and helping to put on a nice outdoor fall show. It’s at the Pembroke Town Green, featuring Emma Ate The Lion.

Now that you know about our next three shows, you will be even more excited to stay tuned to find out about the awesome things we have in store – all we’ll say now is that our biggest plans will involve charity, and will stick close to our roots by being ALL AGES. Keep a look out, youngins of Plymouth, the rock & roll is on its way.

OK, so I’m off to do schoolwork that I actually find interesting and want to do (who knew that was possible?), so stay tuned and we’ll be back with more updates and great news. Peace!

Brewster LIVES!

Hey everyone,

We’ve been kind of invisible/non-existent in the past couple months. For that we sincerly apologize. Of course, the economic meltdown thing even affected good ol’ Brewster Productions. BUT we’re slowly getting back on our feet, and this summer is going to be a doozy.

Before I get into that, I have to mention some good press we got over the winter. Brewster Productions topped the list of “who to watch in 2009″ in Ryan Wood’s column in the OCM. Along with us were a ton of the rad characters we’ve worked with in the past year-and-a-half: Jake Hill (artist of the year), 3rd Left (best live act), Stephen MacDonald (best new act), and our good friends Shaun Dever and Eagle Hill Band (who to watch). 2008 was a great year of local music around Plymouth, and 2009 is shaping up to be even better. Check out the article:

SO, we have some great news:

1) The second year of the Acoustic Evenings on the Harbor series is officially ON. And it’s going to be even cooler and longer (we’ll likely be starting Memorial Day weekend). Stay tuned for a schedule (and if you’re a musician who wants to play, e-mail us).

2) This summer, the School’s Out Summer Concert Series is an official IRS incorporated non-profit organaization. Awesome (anyone want to sponsor us???).

3) The School’s Out Summer Concert Series is now the name of a multi-venue Plymouth free waterfront concert series, that will include the normal main stage and the Hedge House for our acoustic shows. Basically, all the free waterfront shows we’re doing are part of one big series. It should be pretty awesome.

4) We have a show! Go see the EAGLE HILL BAND at the Black Spot in Hyannis March 13th!!! They’ll be giving away singles off their upcoming EP (out this summer).

That’s all for now. Please support Brewster Productions! You don’t have to give us money, but tell everyone about us and let’s get some publicity for the series. Rock n roll!

Keep it real. Go Brewster.
