The other night was our last show at Sweetwater Cafe in Boston for a little while, but it was something else. Originally, Hitch from 3rd Left was scheduled to play, with support from the Eagle Hill Band acoustic. Then, Jake Hill showed up. And then James Calandrella, “the best sax player in Boston”, according to Hitch (he’s not kidding), showed up and played. It was an incredible show. Here are the photos.

Our next show as of right now is just 24 days away, and happens to be the huge OPENING NIGHT of the 2010 School’s Out Summer Concert Series. Needless to say, we’re very excited for our favorite part of the year. We’ll have some more details about it, but from here on out, come back here for news on Brewster shows in general, but go to the CONCERT SERIES web site for updates on that front.

Lucas Carpenter performs at the School's Out Summer Concert Series August 7, 2009.

Last summer, Lucas Carpenter conquered the Plymouth Waterfront main stage with his infectious songs and awe-inspiring showmanship. Now, in just a couple weeks the Philly-based Berkelee grad is back in the area for what will surely be an amazing show. Lucas will be playing at ALL ASIA in Cambridge April 12th . Our good friend and local crowd-pleaser Ben Carter will open the show, which starts at 8pm.

On the other-Boston-shows front, starting April 8th we will be producing Singer-Songwriter Thursdays at Sweetwater Cafe (3 Boylston Place, by the Common). Same goes for the Sweetwater shows.

It was a wacky weekend at Sweetwater Cafe in Boston, where everything from a band full of mummies to a pair of musicians from Big D and the Kids Table rocked the house.

Friday night, Electric Mummy unwrapped their punk-metal sound, then on Saturday Sean P. Rogan packed the house and at some points required some bouncer backup from upstairs. At an acoustic show. It got a little rowdy and it was a great time – he was also joined for a few songs on stage by Big D trumpet player Dan Stoppelman who lent his trumpet and melodica talents. Shaun Dever opened up the night with a great crowd pleasing set of his own.

Starting next week we’ll be hosting Singer-Songwriter Night at Sweetwater every thursday night. We’ll have a show announcement for you very soon about APRIL 8th, which will be our first show.

The rad tunes were pouring out of a little room downstairs in an alleyway club tonight in Boston. Greg Loftus and Nate Cristofori, two of south-of-Boston’s finest, tuned up Sweetwater Cafe’s downstairs stage tonight. Nate started off the show with some great sing-alongs with his contagious piano-ing, and Greg closed out the evening with some incredible bluesy guitar and singing work. Check out the photos. Here’s what’s going on next weekend: The two big shows are THE OKAY WIN 3/12 and 3rd LEFT 3/13, both at Sweetwater Cafe. Also next weekend, Team Brewster will be tackling the Nike Indoor Nationals track meet as the official sound team. We’re going to tweet about the wacky time we’re having the whole time with fun photos, so stay tuned to that if you feel like reliving your former athletic days through a sound production company. Happy March everyone!

We’re very excited to say that, not only because it means it’s getting closer to spring, and maybe some nice weather, but also because we have a crazily awesome March schedule for everyone to enjoy. To start off the shows this month (all of which are at Sweetwater Cafe in Boston), we’ve got the southern bluesy-folk stylings of Greg Loftus this friday 3/5. Then next week, while we hammer away at the Nike Indoor Nationals track meet at the Reggie Lewis center, we’ve got The Okay Win and Big Big Buildings 3/12 and an open spot 3/13 (let us know if you want to play). March 19-20 we’ve got a Plymouth-in-Boston weekend, featuring our very good friend Shaun Dever on 3/19 – on 3/20, our other very good friend, indie music writer Ryan Wood is hosting the Boston launch party for his awesome blog, Tranzmission, which will feature the incomparable folk stylings of Jake Hill and Greg Loftus. Then, if you thought that was enough, to round off the month, we’ve got Electric Mummy (yes, they are mummies) on 3/26, and here’s the big one: SEAN P. ROGAN of Big D and the Kids Table on 3/27. Needless to say (but I’ll say it anyway), it’s going to be a great Brewster month. Shaun Dever, performing 3/19 at Sweetwater Cafe, is also our main graphics and poster guy here at Brewster. So, without his computer while surfing the days away in Costa Rica, this is the poster he came up with.

This will be a great weekend. On March 19, Shaun Dever will rock the Sweetwater Cafe in his ‘back in the USA’ debut show after surfing his way through Costa Rica for some time (see the photo). Then the very next day, March 20, our good friend and international indie music writer Ryan Wood will be hosting the official Boston launch party of his new music blog, The Tranzmission, which will feature the incomparable JAKE HILL w/ another incredible mainstay of ours, Greg Loftus – it’s sure to be a bluesy, folksy night.

So you’re probably beginning to see that March at Sweetwater Cafe in Boston, presented by Brewster Productions, is going to be a pretty rad time. Make sure you check out the show schedule because we’ve got 7 SHOWS coming up featuring the likes of Sean P. Rogan (of Big D and the Kids Table), The Okay Win, Big Big Buildings, Nate Cristofori, Electric Mummy and more. It’s gonna be a great month as we get geared up for the big 3rd season of the School’s Out Summer Concert Series. Yesterday Scott, Steve Infascelli and I spent the better part of the afternoon at the Reggie Lewis Center doing the first of what will be a few test runs for our big Nike Indoor Nationals sound production gig. For those of you who don’t know, the Reggie is an indoor track/giant athletics field house at Roxbury Community College. We’ll be producing the sound for the big national high school indoor track meet there on March 12-14, which is sponsored by Nike. So yesterday we fiddled around with a bunch of wireless mic stuff, a ducking system, and the giant expanse that is the Reggie Lewis Center, and surpisingly, pretty much on the first try, everything sounded great even with the wacky acoustics.

So that’s the Nike Indoor Nationals update for now. We’ll take lots of pictures and tweet and blog about our experience and such when the meet comes around.

And remember, we’ve got TONS OF SHOWS coming up in March so don’t miss them.

I came about Mr. Rogan when I went to see Streetlight Manifesto at the Boston House of Blues back in October – he was great. Just him an his acoustic getting the 2,000 people waiting to see a punk-ska band to sing and bob their heads along. It was an awesome surprise act at the show, and I decided to e-mail him a couple days later on the off chance he might want to do a show or two with good ol’ Brewster Productions!

So we’ll be promoting the hell out of this one (and of course the other ones too), so make sure you spread the word to all of your friends who like Big D, or just good music in general. There’s a Big D show at the Paradise on March 19th, so if you’re there, tell everyone to come to Sweetwater on the 27th. Check out a few samples of Sean’s in our featured music player, and check out some of these at his web site: Rocking Chair Song and a whole bunch of other songs. And just for fun, I found this video of Sean playing subsitute guitar for Streetlight during Warped Tour because I guess Tomas broke his arm or something. Details!:

Our good friends Greg Loftus and Nate Cristofori will be rocking the little Boston venue we’ve had a handful of great shows at so far.
