We’re counting down on Twitter (@brewsterprod) the top 5 cool new things we’re unveiling this summer at our concert series and music festival. Here’s #4!

4. Lights, camera, action! We’ve got a lovely new lighting setup, and sweet new camera on staff this summer. We’re finally able to document all the concerts like we weren’t able to before – we’ve got a new camera, Jon’s Canon 60D to be exact, and we’re going to light the Hedge House stage for cinematography. That is, we’re going to make it look really classy and pretty – not just the colored PAR lights anymore (though they’ll still be there). Expect lots of great HD video, and maybe even a fun documentary-type movie recapping the summer. Here’s a video from our June 4th show (no lights, because it was an afternoon show):

Where it all began! Brewster founders Scott, Jon, and Harry became friends on the Plymouth South High School cross country team as sophomores in 2002, here’s a photo of the 2004 team (7-1, almost ACL champs), including regular performer at our shows Shaun Dever. 5. New names! “Acoustic Nights Free Concert Series” and “Plymouth Independent Music Festival” – like a band changing it’s name, it’s time for a fresh start so we can keep on growing. The shows were previously the School’s Out Summer Concert Series, and Schoolhouse Rock, reflecting our initial focus on the cause of public education – we haven’t abandoned the cause though! This year, we put on No More Pencils, No More Books, a free graduation day concert at the Hedge House to celebrate the graduates of Plymouth Schools and show our appreciation for the school system that produced us.

We’ve got a whole bunch of free shows this summer, including the Acoustic Nights Free Concert Series and the inaugural Plymouth Independent Music Festival. They’re all between July 15th and September 1st, featuring artists like Lucas Carpenter, The Release, The Okay Win, Jake Hill, Westerly Whales, Sarah Blacker, Ben Carter, Carly Teft, Emma Ate the Lion, The Brightest Lights, Anika Scribbling, and way more.

Brewster goes to the ARTYs!!

The other night, May 6th to be exact – and almost exactly 6 years to the day after our junior prom, incidentally – we were honored with a prestigious ARTY award from the Plymouth Cultural Council. We really can’t express how truly honored we are to receive such recognition for the work we’ve done in our hometown. Thank you to everyone, especially our good friend and co-founder Harry Quinn, all the friends and family members who’ve helped us over the years, all the amazing musicians we’ve worked with, and another ARTY award-winner last Friday, Donna Curtin of the Plymouth Antiquarian Society. Also a big thank you to local artist Carly Tefft for performing at the event (she’ll be playing 8/5 at the Hedge House too!).

But just because we got a really cool award doesn’t mean we’re stopping! Get ready for a crazy summer of free concerts, for one thing, and check out a short film we just helped shoot, “Clean Pop”, directed by Jon Dorn, starring members of the Eagle Hill Band and Nick A (production photos up soon).

The summer of 2006 was when we first conceived of Brewster Productions. Right across the street from where this concert was happening, in the not-so-coincidentally-named Brewster Gardens, we were playing a game of “Midnight Wiffleball” when the idea of putting on a big summer concert ourselves popped into our collective heads. So here are the earliest seeds of Brewster Productions, the big August 11, 2006 Saucy Seth & the Clams of Death waterfront show:

Summer 2011 is coming……this summer. Yay concerts!

Happy mid-January, world!

We do exist! Yes, we’ve disappeared for a bit this winter, but we will indeed be coming back for another go-round on the Plymouth Waterfront. But this time, our 5th year of concerts, we’re doing it a bit differently. Sadly, because of various reasons, we will only be putting on one main stage show at DCR Pilgrim Memorial State Park. But it will be one hell of a show, and we’ll still be rocking the Hedge House lawn with lots of acoustic shows.

You can expect an all-day music festival sometime around the end of July. And before that, starting the first weekend in July, we’ll be giving you 2 solid months of our popular acoustic shows on the lawn of the Hedge House (thanks again to the perennially-wonderful Plymouth Antiquarian Society).

This change was triggered by a wonderful event, the wedding of Brewster owner Scott McEwen and Erin Hollenbeck in the end of June. Don’t forget to congratulate them!

Hey fall, what’s up. NH festival a success, onward to more shows.

Hey everyone, just a quick update. We’ve been a little absent from the website in the past few weeks (to keep up with us all the time, follow us on Twitter), so here’s a quick update.

1) The 2010 free concert series came to an anticlimactic conclusion when we had to cancel the final 2 shows, making the (awesome) show w/ Greg Loftus and Steve MacDonald on 8/20 the last for the year. We’ve got big things in the works for 2011, so keep on the lookout for clues.

2) We did side-stage sound at the Black Mountain Music Festival in Jackson, NH this past weekend (feat. Rustic Overtones, Barefoot Truth, Audio Kickstand, and more), and it went great…..until we tried to drive home. On our way home, we had a big truck problem and we had to get towed back to Plymouth from NH. Fortunately AAA Gold covered the towing distance for free. Unfortunately, those AAA free miles don’t apply to trailers – so we had to pay to get the trailer towed back. It was quite a bit.

3) We’ve got 3 events on the calendar at the moment: A kids concert in Boston, the Canton Fall Classic road race, and the PSHS Talent show. Should be a great fall – keep your eyes peeled for more shows!
