Happy April everyone,

I hope anyone who visited yesterday enjoyed the show announcement. It’s entirely true – it wasn’t an april fools joke. Did you also know that April 2nd is Opposite Day?

Anyway, we’ve been getting geared up for the School’s Out Summer Concert Series for a little while now, it things are starting to get real exciting. If you haven’t been over to the CONCERT SERIES WEB SITE, please do so, there are many fun things to behold. You’ll notice the SCHEDULE, how to DONATE, and how to GET BOOKED to play. Up-and-coming indie foursome The Black Eyed Peas to play at the summer concert series

This year we’ve got a special treat for the concert series. A little known but truly awesome indie band from Los Angeles will be bringing their mellow, poignant vibe to the School’s Out Summer Concert Series. They’re called The Black Eyed Peas. You might not have heard of them, but they’re certainly making their way up in some underground music circuits. You can read more about them here.

Opening the show will be a cool up-and-coming guy named Kanye West, and a really cool singer-songwriter that you’ll be saying “I knew him before he was famous” about in a couple years: James Taylor. The show is on June 31st and it’s going to be a great time.

Happy April 1st!

LUCAS CARPENTER is back in town! …plus Singer-Songwriter Thursdays at Sweetwater

Lucas Carpenter performs at the School's Out Summer Concert Series August 7, 2009.

Last summer, Lucas Carpenter conquered the Plymouth Waterfront main stage with his infectious songs and awe-inspiring showmanship. Now, in just a couple weeks the Philly-based Berkelee grad is back in the area for what will surely be an amazing show. Lucas will be playing at ALL ASIA in Cambridge April 12th . Our good friend and local crowd-pleaser Ben Carter will open the show, which starts at 8pm.

Take a listen to Lucas here: myspace.com/lucascarpenter. If his music itself doesn’t convince you to come, then watch a few videos on YouTube.

On the other-Boston-shows front, starting April 8th we will be producing Singer-Songwriter Thursdays at Sweetwater Cafe (3 Boylston Place, by the Common). Also, we’re currently in the process of booking all the School’s Out Summer Concert Series shows, so if you want to play, or know someone who does, give us a shout (booking@brewsterproductions.com)!! Same goes for the Sweetwater shows.

Stay dry.

A crazy weekend of Sean P. Rogan, Shaun Dever, and a band of mummies at Sweetwater in Boston

Sean P. Rogan is joined onstage at Sweetwater Cafe 3/27/10 by Dan Stoppelman of Big D and the Kids Table.

It was a wacky weekend at Sweetwater Cafe in Boston, where everything from a band full of mummies to a pair of musicians from Big D and the Kids Table rocked the house.

Friday night, Electric Mummy unwrapped their punk-metal sound, then on Saturday Sean P. Rogan packed the house and at some points required some bouncer backup from upstairs. At an acoustic show. It got a little rowdy and it was a great time – he was also joined for a few songs on stage by Big D trumpet player Dan Stoppelman who lent his trumpet and melodica talents. Shaun Dever opened up the night with a great crowd pleasing set of his own.

Starting next week we’ll be hosting Singer-Songwriter Night at Sweetwater every thursday night. We’ll have a show announcement for you very soon about APRIL 8th, which will be our first show.

Enjoy the photos!

Jake Hill and Greg Loftus bring the blues to Sweetwater in Boston

Jake Hill performs at Sweetwater Cafe 3/20/10.

We helped writer Ryan Wood put on the Boston launch party for his blog, Tranzmission, at Sweetwater Cafe in Boston this past Saturday, with the help of Jake Hill and Greg Loftus. It was a great, bluesy, folky show, and Jake Hill rocked the place with a 3-piece acoustic band. You can expect to see both of these amazing guys this summer at the concert series. Check out the photos below!

Next weekend: Electric Mummy on Friday, then SEAN P. ROGAN (of Big D and the Kids Table ) on Saturday. Check SHOWS for all the info.

Shaun, Ben, and a surprise appearance from Seth take Sweetwater by storm

Shaun Dever is joined on stage by Ben Carter at Sweetwater 3/19/10.

What a show we had last night. Wow. From right before the show when Seth McFadyen and Ben Carter went outside of Sweetwater into the street and played “Semi Charmed Life” and “Island In the Sun”, to Ben unplugging his guitar and singing Jewel on a chair in the middle of the crowd, to Shaun Dever leading a group amorphous jam of “What I Got”, this show was something else.

Hero Ben Carter.

Last night at Sweetwater Cafe in Boston, Shaun Dever, Ben Carter, and Seth McFadyen rocked the crowd for an incredible night of wild acoustic jams and packed-room sing-alongs. At one point, Ben even called a girl from the crowd, sat her in a chair in front of him and played a song for her – she apparently was from Switzerland, which led Ben to thank her by saying, “Welcome to America.” Seth put on a great last-minute opening set, and Shaun rounded off the night with his rad tunes and some more great sing-along jams.

Last night we were giving out little flyers for a FREE DOWNLOAD of the Brewster Sessions, Volume 1 sneak peek album. More on the actual album later. But for now, go download the 6-song album for free here: brewsterproductions.bandcamp.com.

TONIGHT: Jake Hill and Greg Loftus will be playing at Sweetwater for the launch party of TRANZMISSION, the indie music blog of Ryan Wood. If you come tonight, you can get your digital hands on a free download of Greg Loftus’ EP courtesy of Tranzmission.

Now, here are a multitude of photos from last night. Thanks to Shaun Dever for some of them, and for the nice settings he put in the camera for the ones of him. We’ll add some video soon.

See you all tonight!!

Howdy and a merry springtime to you all,

Shaun Dever at the School's Out Summer Concert Series, June 5, 2009.

We’ve got 2 amazing shows this weekend: On Friday, Shaun Dever will rocking the stage, freshly back from a surfing excursion to Costa Rica. He’ll be joined by our good friends Ben Carter and Nick Amendolare. Then on Saturday, we’ve got the big Boston launch party for TRANZMISSION, a great indie music blog by our friend Ryan Wood – that show will feature JAKE HILL and GREG LOFTUS. This is all going down at Sweetwater Cafe in Boston: 10pm, 21+, $5 cover. See our SHOWS page for more info and other shows!

FREE STUFF?? Yes, that’s right. Just last week, Ben Carter joined us in the studio for The Brewster Sessions, and tomorrow Shaun will be doing the same. We’ve also got a few Brewster Session tracks from Nick A that we recorded during the summer. SO, if you come to the show on Friday, you’ll get a free mini-album sample download of The Brewster Sessions, Volume 1 (which we’re working on for release this summer….stay tuned). If you come to the show, we’ll give you a little piece of paper with a code on it and you can download it from our forthcoming online music store.

Don’t miss these shows (and your free music!!!). You’ll also want to head on over to the School’s Out Summer Concert Series site for pretty much constant updates to the schedule. We’ve already got a bunch of artists booked. Take a look!

See you at the shows!

A weekend in the scaffolding at the Reggie Lewis Center

Stephen Infascelli (left) was the special guest DJ for the Nike Indoor Nationals this past weekend. Brewster provided the sound.

Happy Monday,

So we got through our weekend of sound production at the Reggie Lewis Center, where we were in charge of music and a nice little bunch of announcers carrying around wireless microphones. If you were following our frequent tweets throughout the weekend, you probably heard about some initial troubles with the mics, which we swiftly solved on Saturday morning. And you probably heard about some crazy athletics going on. Being that this was Nike Indoor Nationals, it was the national championship for high school indoor track individual and relay team athletes. We saw people breaking national all-time records and having top-ten all-time performances right and left. You can read some of the results here.

Once we got past our first-day issues with an audio ducking system (we removed it and everything magically started working great), we had a great but occasionally monotonous time. Scott, Steve Infascelli and I sat up in a big scaffolding tower with our sound equipment and a bunch of food, where we diligently kept track of 4 wireless-mic announcers roaming about the stadium and 2 wired-mic announcers close by. Check out these photos, and we’ll be posting some more video soon.

Now, back to the music – and I don’t mean the Ke$ha and Miley Cyrus we were playing all weekend. This coming weekend, 3/19 & 3/20 we’ve got two awesome shows at Sweetwater Cafe: Shaun Dever, w/ Ben Carter and Nick Amendolare on Friday 3/19, then Jake Hill and Greg Loftus on Saturday 3/20. Saturday’s show will be the Boston launch party for Tranzmission, a really cool indie music blog by our good friend and journalist Ryan Wood.

CONCERT SERIES NEWS: This past Thursday, we officially started booking artists at the School’s Out Summer Concert Series! We are beyond excited about this. So far we’ve got a giant 3rd of July show, a Warped Tour send-off party for a band from Braintree, a couple old friends, and a bunch of new ones. Go to the concert series web site to read more and check out the schedule.

Have a tubular week. Happy St. Patrick’s day.
