Press release: Acoustic Nights 2017 lineup announced

Tenth season of Acoustic Nights brings free concerts to Hedge House lawn this summer

Four waterfront shows celebrate vibrant local music community

PLYMOUTH – Brewster Productions has announced the lineup for the Acoustic Nights Summer Concert Series, celebrating its tenth season on the lawn of the 1809 Hedge House. The series features top emerging artists from the region, performing acoustic folk, pop, jazz and more.

The waterfront concerts will take place monthly throughout the summer on four Saturdays: On June 24, Dan Mills and Hayley Sabella co-headline opening night; July 22, George Woods performs with Stephen MacDonald opening; August 12, Kaiti Jones takes the stage with Savoir Faire opening; the season closes on September 2 with Macalla, Molly Brulé opening. All concerts begin at 6pm and are free and open to the public.

“We are so excited to celebrate our tenth season with this lineup,” said Eva Walsh, series co-producer, new to the leading role this season after volunteering since 2013. “It’s a great mix of genres and it showcases the richness of the independent music scene in eastern Massachusetts.”

Series co-founder and co-producer Jon Dorn was pleasantly surprised at the event’s longevity.

“When we started the series we were 21 years old, just trying to help young musicians find a place to perform their original music,” said Dorn, who founded the series in 2008 with longtime friends Scott McEwen, Harrison Quinn and Andrew Carleen. “We had no idea it would go for ten seasons; the community has been amazingly supportive.”

The free concert series is a volunteer effort by Brewster Productions, relying on sponsorship and grants for funding. The tenth season is sponsored by local musical instrument shop, The Music Box; the venue for the concert series has been generously donated for use by the Plymouth Antiquarian Society. The series is supported in part by a grant from the Town of Plymouth Promotions Fund.

Walsh, a local singer-songwriter and violinist with roots in Minnesota, is looking forward to her first season as a series organizer.

“I’m thrilled that I can help these special shows continue for the Plymouth community,” said Walsh. “Even though I didn’t grow up in Plymouth, it feels like home and the Acoustic Nights series has become the best way that I can give back to a community that has been so welcoming.”

The concert series kicks off on June 24 with Brooklyn folk/Americana singer-songwriter Dan Mills and Plymouth’s own Hayley Sabella. Full series information can be found at www.acousticnightsplymouth.com.
