The School’s Out Summer Concert Series is run by a devoted team of volunteers from Brewster Productions, but despite the fact that we don’t pay any personell, or even most performers, it still costs a lot of money to put on a concert series.
“Why should I make a donation?” you ask.
“Where does the money go?”
All money donated to the School’s Out Summer Concert Series will be put right back into making the series as great as possible. Your money will go to the following expenses:
- Equipment repair and maintenance
- Equipment purchase (power amps, cables, mic stands, microphones, lights, tables, chairs, and so on)
- Liability insurance. The Mass Department of Conservation and Recreation requires liability insurance for concerts in Pilgrim Memorial State Park (the main stage)
- Promotion and marketing. This is a big one along with equipment.
- Performers. Most performers volunteer their time, but occasionally, we compensate some artists for gas money and travel expenses. E.g. if a touring band is going to perform, we will help them with gas money.
- Crew water and food. No one who works at the concerts gets paid, but we do provide crew members with minimal food and water for their time.
“What’s in it for me?”
First off, you’ll feel like a great person. Like a really great person, approaching radical, bodacious, or tubular even. But there are some other great things you’ll get out of it:
1) All non-anonymous donors will become members of Friends of the School’s Out Summer Concert Series, a group created to support the concert series. With this membership, you’ll get special status based on your donation, and get free merchandise when it’s available (pins, pens, shirts, etc.).
2) All businesses can advertise at our high-exposure concert series. The more you give, the bigger advertisement you get. Check out the 2009 Sponsor Kit (PDF) – the new one is coming soon.
3) All donors/Friends will have their names published on this Web site so everyone can know how awesome you are.
4) We will thank you as endlessly as we are capable of.
So you want to make a donation? Here’s all you have to do.
1) Decide how much you want to give. Our 2008 budget was about $1,000, and our 2009 budget was about $2,000, which are both quite meager. We’re hoping to expand by at least another $1,000 in 2010. As of 11/2009 we have $0 in committed funds for the 2010 concert series….let’s change that!
